(Ig)Nobel week

It’s the Nobel time of year. First up, physiology or medicine – Andrew Fire and Craig Mello, for the discovery of RNA interference. Check out the excellent information at the Nobel site.
Physics and chemistry are announced today and tomorrow, respectively. Of course this means that the IgNobel prizes are just around the corner (October 5) – much more fun.

updates: physics – George Smoot and John Mather for their insights into the aftermath of the Big Bang; chemistry – Roger Kornberg (son of Arthur), for studies of eukaryotic transcription.
